SKIN TESTINGUnfortunately, since lockdown the colour skin testing patches we used previously have been discontinued, as a result we are launching a new patch test known as the ‘Colourstart Passport’. The Colourstart Passport is a convenient way of allergy testing, prior to your colour treatment.
By carefully answering a simple set of questions, Colourstart Passport can help you decide if Colourstart is suitable for you to use. Your answers may also help you make an informed decision on whether you should avoid hair colour. Results can be shared with River Hair (and beauty therapists) for future reference, to avoid potentially unnecessary retesting. Colourstart is classed as a medicine, regulated by the MHRA and as such we are not able to give it away, as medicine in the UK must be charged for. The Colour Passport can be sent to you in the post at a cost of £15.00, directly from River Hair and if purchased in this way we will refund this cost over your next three colour appointments. Alternatively, you can arrange to come to the salon 48-hours prior to an appointment for a AAT test. Allergy alert tests are complimentary. You may instead choose to purchase the Colourstart Passport online (directly), but unfortunately we cannot offer the subsequent discount against future treatments. Q: I Have Had A Skin Test With Another Salon Do I Still Need One? A: Absolutely, yes. All salons use different product manufacturers and different colour lines. We need to be absolutely certain that you're safe to have colour before we apply any to your hair. It is always better to be safe than sorry - allergies to hair colour can develop at any time! The only exception would be with an up to date ‘Colour Passport’ green tick. If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact our team. |

Colourstart Passports are a medical-grade skin test that is similar to a HRT patch. These patches are applied to your upper arm and need to be left for 48 hours. After that time they need to be removed and they are checked for any redness or irritation. Watch this video to see how the Colour Passport works.
