The River Hair Story
River Hair Company was founded by Sian Tulloch in 2007. We are a unisex hair salon based in Taffs Well, near Cardiff. Our boutique salon prides itself on stylists who listen, who want to make you feel as good as you look. We pride ourselves on the quality of our colour and cuts which are all delivered with a 5 star service.
Why I Started River Hair
Some of my earliest memories are of going to the salon with my mum. I remember watching her have her hair done and seeing how happy it made her feel afterwards. Even then, I think I understood that there was something quite powerful about good hair and the confidence it can give you and the way it can completely change how you feel about yourself.
That feeling stayed with me and became a big part of why I went into hairdressing in the first place. I’ve always loved that what we do goes beyond creating beautiful hair. We get to help people feel good about themselves, and there’s something really special in that.
When I started River Hair, I wanted to create the kind of salon I would genuinely love to visit myself. One that’s professional and beautiful, but never intimidating. Somewhere that was about more than just great hair; a place where clients could walk through the door and feel welcomed, looked after and part of something.
I’ve always believed that having your hair done should feel like a form of self-care, not simply another appointment in the diary. From the surroundings and the products we use to the coffee you drink and the conversations you have, every part of the River Hair experience is designed to make your time with us feel special.
I also wanted to create a salon where hairdressers could build rewarding, long-term careers, with ongoing education, opportunities to progress and a supportive environment where they can continue to learn and grow.
Being part of our local community has been at the heart of River Hair from the beginning too. I wanted to build a salon that genuinely belongs to its community and gives back to the people who have supported us along the way.
As River Hair has grown, that original vision has stayed the same: exceptional hairdressing, genuine care and a little bit of luxury without the intimidating price tag.
