River Hair Community
Supporting Taffs Well & Nantgarw
River Hair Company actively champions community support by serving as a core partner for local neighborhood initiatives. Beyond providing premium styling and salon care, they act as a vital community pillar and ticketing hub for the Taffs Well and Nantgarw Christmas Lights Fundraising Group.
Working hand-in-hand with local businesses and residents, the salon helps coordinate fundraising events - such as "A Taste of Wales" artisan evenings hosted at the local village hall - to secure the funding, volunteers, and committee members needed to keep the village beautifully illuminated for the festive season.
If you think you might be able to help and offer your time to the cause, please eMail us and leave your contact details.
Community Award Nomination
River Hair Salon in Taffs Well is a truly deserving nominee for this community award due to their outstanding generosity and community spirit.
By donating full salon equipment to the Torfaen Pupil Referral Unit, Sian and her team have given pupils aged 14–19 a valuable, hands-on insight into a vocational future, opening direct doors to hairdressing careers. Many of these young people have faced significant disadvantages in their lives. This incredible resource provides a critical stepping stone to secure successful future pathways for some of the most vulnerable pupils in the Torfaen area.
Sarah Pugh, Headteacher, emphasised the profound impact of the donation, stating:
"Pupils at Torfaen PRU are incredibly lucky to have received this generous donation from Sian and the team at River, it will give them a valuable opportunity to experience hands on working in a field that interests them."
By equipping these students with professional tools, River Hair Salon has gone above and beyond business as usual. They are directly investing in the practical skills, self-confidence, and long-term potential of young people who need it most, making them a perfect example of community-driven excellence.
